The most beautiful motorbike tours in Salzburg - personal suggestion from the owner, Georg

1. A ride to Grundlsee

Grundlsee is a municipality in the Liezen District of Styria, Austria. The municipality is located at Grundlsee lake. Do not forget your swimming trunks on warm days ;-). Grundlsee is about 120 km from Hotel Sonnegg in Saalbach away, which is perfect for a nice day trip. Not to forget is that a very well know Austrian music group called “Die Seer” are from Grundlsee.

From Hotel Sonnegg to Maria Alm across Dientner Sattel. Then in the direction Fritztal, followed by Lammertal and Pass Gschütt. From Pass Gschütt you already can see the well-known city Hallstadt, which was recreated by the Chinese.  Only few kilometres left till you reach Grundlsee. You can go back through Salzkammergut, Bad Ischl, St. Wolfgang …

2. Sunrisetour to the Großglockner

The most famous alpine road is only 20 kilometres from the Hotel Sonnegg away. You will have a driving and nature experience of a special kind on 48 kilometres of high alpine road with 36 bends, and an altitude ascent to 2,504 metres. Although, Georg has been over 300 times on the Großglockner, he thinks it is always a pleasure to go there. His special tip is the weekly sunrise tour with the guests to the Großglockner. There he never forgets coffee and cake.

From the Hotel Sonnegg through Thumersbach to Bruck. Along a nice country road to Fusch. Then only few kilometres are left till you reach the tollbooth (you get a reduced toll pass at the Hotel).  After the tollbooth nothing hinders you to enjoy the long way to the top.

3. A visit to the "Bergdoktor"

“Der Bergdoktor” is a German-Austrian medical drama television series and well known in German speaking countries. The series is produced in Tirol. Although, Georg is not a real fan of this special series, he likes the way to the famous filming spot.

From the Hotel Sonnegg to Maishofen. Then over a narrow way, the Kammererweg, in the direction to Gerling. Saalfelden, Leogang, Hochfilzen are following. Then right hand side to St. Jakob am Pillersee, Waidring, St. Johann in Tirol. Only few kilometres to Ellmau, the first filming spot. Further towards to Söll, to the „Bergdoktor Hof“. With little luck, you have the chance to meet the Bergdoktor ;-). Over the Brixental, Hopfgarten, Mosen to Kitzbühel. Then across the Pass Thurn to Zell am See and back to the Hotel Sonnegg. The Tour encompasses only 190 kilometres, therefore you have enough time for a coffee break ;-)
